With Casey Powell’s final professional lacrosse game looming, I figured it’s the perfect time for me to return to writing.

Casey has been inspiring me since I was in high school. I started playing lacrosse my freshman year. I remeber watching NCAA games and hearing his name. Almost imediatly I was hooked. His style was unique. His passes were crisp. An absolute thrill to watch.
I was lucky enough to be able to see him win a championship with Cuse in person. Also was there to see Ryan and Mike win a few as well. But it was CP that started this entire be yourself and play fun style for me. I just missed the Gaits at Cuse but I can see how they inspired the Powells.

Casey has had such a crazy career professionally. Dominating indoor and out. Growing the game all the while. Which is what inspires me these days.

The World Lacrosse Foundation was started to be able to help get sticks in the hands of kids all over the globe. Then of course there is Speed Lacrosse. Based on the way the Powells played in their backyard growing up. Built around the idea that the more touches you get the better you get. It’s like wall ball but with friends and goals. I personally love the idea and hope to be able to play and maybe get some going here in MD.

I don’t want to write about all the accolades Casey has gotten over the years because most people know. This is really just a thank you for being someone I have been following from day 1 of my lax life and will continue as he embarks on NCAA coaching at Jacksonville University. Casey Powell will always be on my Mount Rushmore of lacrosse. I have enjoyed this ride CP has taken us on and can’t wait to see what’s next. All that’s left to say now is…

THANK YOU CASEY! 22Easy
